Nvidia is deepening its grip on the AI supply chain with a major investment in optical-fiber maker Corning, a critical supplier for the high-speed networking that links AI chips.
Fiber for AI factories
Under the deal, Nvidia agreed to invest up to $3.2 billion in Corning, tied to the construction of three new factories focused on AI. Optical fiber is essential for moving data quickly between the thousands of GPUs in modern AI data centres.
Locking in supply
The investment fits a pattern of Nvidia securing partnerships across the components it needs — from memory and foundry capacity to networking — to keep pace with surging demand for AI infrastructure.
