President Donald Trump has signalled he is open to sending details of the agreement with Iran to members of Congress, as lawmakers from both parties raise questions about the framework that could end months of hostilities.
'Wouldn't mind' a review
Speaking during a bilateral meeting in France with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Trump said he wouldn't mind sending the memorandum of understanding to Congress for review. The framework was announced and signed digitally on Sunday and could bring an end to the conflict between the US and Iran that began in February.
Congressional scrutiny
Members of both parties have pressed for more information about the terms, including provisions affecting the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program. How much detail the White House shares, and whether lawmakers get a formal vote, could shape the political debate over the deal in the weeks ahead.
