United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres travelled to Port-au-Prince in a show of solidarity as Haiti reels from relentless gang violence.
A deepening crisis
According to UN data, 2,300 people have been killed in Haiti this year, with another 100 kidnapped. Armed groups control large parts of the capital, displacing families and crippling basic services as the state struggles to reassert authority.
Calls for support
Guterres's visit underscored international concern over the humanitarian emergency and renewed appeals for stronger backing for security efforts and aid. Aid agencies warn that hunger and displacement are worsening as the violence persists.
