World's 50 Best Restaurants Heads to Abu Dhabi for 2026

The world's most influential restaurant ranking is packing its bags for the Gulf: the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 will be announced in Abu Dhabi this November, the first time the global list will be revealed in the United Arab Emirates capital.

Sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, the ceremony is one of the highest-stakes nights in gastronomy, capable of sending reservations soaring and redrawing the map of culinary tourism. Hosting it in Abu Dhabi cements the Middle East's rapid rise as a fine-dining destination.

A Title Up for Grabs

Last year, Lima's Maido was crowned The World's Best Restaurant, capping the global ascent of Peruvian and Nikkei cuisine. As a previous No.1, Maido now joins the Best of the Best list, a hall of fame that removes former champions from active ranking and opens the door for a new winner to be named.

What to Watch

  • Host city: Abu Dhabi, a first for the global ceremony.
  • Timing: The list will be unveiled in November 2026.
  • Best of the Best: Maido and other former No.1 restaurants celebrated.
  • Extended list: The 51-100 ranking will also be revealed.

Regional Momentum

Several regional editions have already set the stage. North America's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 has been revealed, with Albi in Washington, D.C. taking the Best Restaurant in Northeast USA award. A run of additional honors will be announced in the weeks before the Abu Dhabi finale.

Why the Location Shift Matters

The decision to host in Abu Dhabi reflects how the geography of great dining is broadening. Once dominated by Europe, the conversation now spans Lima, Tokyo, Bangkok and the Gulf, where ambitious restaurants and deep investment are drawing global talent.

For chefs and diners alike, the 2026 edition promises both a coronation of a new global champion and a symbolic statement: the center of gravity in fine dining is no longer fixed to any single continent. All eyes turn to Abu Dhabi come November.
